Here is something to think about......
The state of Wisconsin classifies an atv as follows. All-terrain vehicle (ATV)—An engine-driven device which has a net weight of 900 pounds or less, which has a width of 48 inches or less, which is equipped with a seat designed to be straddled by the operator and which is designed to travel on 3 or more low-pressure tires. A low-pressure tire is a tire which has a minimum width of 6 inches, which is designed to be mounted on a rim with a maximum diameter of 12 inches and which is designed to be infl ated with an operating pressure not to exceed 6 pounds per square inch as recommended by the manufacturer. (NOTE: the machine must meet all qualifi cation restrictions.) See also: Small ATV.
Now most race quads are over that 48" rule, therefore technically it is no longer classified as an atv. Yes, the DNR have fined people for being slightly over the 48" rule. And yes, that means technically you can't ride your new suzuki 450 on the trails off the showroom floor.
So with that being said, technically your quad is no longer classified as an atv so you can no longer can be fined for you atv being above the 96db limit as it is no longer and ATV but an OHV.
Just something to think about.
