Just to put some fears to rest about the new 96db law for the 2004 season: Because the new law must go through the Wisconsin DNR for all the "I"s &"T"s to be done, the actual enforcemennt will not be happening until after the WQRS season is over (or at least most of it anyway). At the past Club meeting it was decided to make no changes in this area until next season. By that time we will have the actual DNR guidlines in our hands.
Looking forward: By the time we reach the 2005 Ice Racing season, the C.W.I.R.A. expects the new laws to be in force. As a result, they have adopted a 96 +/- 9db rule for the 2005 season. I would expect that most (if not all) ATV racing in Wisconsin will follow a similar guidline having the advantage of seeing what happens with the C.W.I.R.A. over the winter.
The WQRS will have a db meter at all events for voluntary testing to help racers prepare for the 2005 season. It would be good advice to take advantage of this to see where you are for next season because one way or another somebody is going to put limits in play. The C.W.I.R.A. rule is as good a guidline as any at this stage of the game.
[glow=red,2,300]Once again, NO CHANGES in the rules for the 2004 WQRS from last year as they pertain to sound. If you were legal last year in your class, your OK for this year.[/glow]
