Well, since I am a rider, but have never raced, I don't have a story of my own, but my son's first race was quite memorable. It was a rainy morning at Lake Geneva in 2001. we brought my son's PW50 in the trunk of our Nissan Altima. The track was sticky, deep mud. when the gate dropped, he got about 50 feet before the bike refused to move because it was so bound up with mud... that was practice. 1st moto.. same thing, but with me pushing!!! the 2nd moto, the track was better, but quite rutty.. all the other bikes were done, but he was still trying to get his 1st lap in. it was the last race of the day, so he just kept going until they finally said he had to get off the track (like 10 minutes after the race was done!!) some older kid, I guess about 7 or 8 walked up to him and gave him one of his trophys for trying so hard (I think they didn't have participation trophys that day). he still has that trophy, and says that if he ever sees a kid just starting out like that, that he is going to give the trophy to him or her.
